but these are the cicadas that stay underground for SEVENTEEN YEARS and this year is the year they are coming up and turning into adults!

it looks like they’ll be appearing in great numbers for the most part, so either
a) get ready to avoid them if you find them scary which i understand but DON’T HURT/KILL THEM THAT’S SO RUDE THEY’RE PROBABLY AS OLD AS YOU AND THEY’RE JUST TRYING TO MAKE A LIFE LIKE THE REST OF US. or
b) get ready to watch them and maybe collect their shed exoskeletons because they’re cool and maybe take photos and videos for the internet! (still refrain from hurting/killing them because come on.)

and yeah this is gonna happen relatively soon when the temperature of the soil uniformly reaches 64 degrees fahrenheit!
